World Autism Awareness Day 2016

April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. All over the world, people will be lighting it up blue in support of autism.

While there may be different challenges with autism, there is hope for children diagnosed with autism especially with the development of the ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) treatment which is
research-based. There is also so much to be celebrated and here at EAP over the last week alone, we have had one of our kiddos start to write on his own, our non-verbal kids are starting to make sounds that sound more and more like words, we are experiencing breakthrough with some of our kids in learning how to make true friendships and I personally had a Skype session and had a back and forth coherent conversation for 11 minutes with one of our boys!

And so, in conjunction with World Autism Awareness Day, we are launching an awareness and acceptance campaign #lovesomeonewithautism and #welcometohope. All you have to do is post a photo or video related to autism with these two hashtags and tag @eapmalaysia in your post whether it’s on Facebook or Instagram. Every week leading up to World Autism Awareness Day, we will choose 3 weekly winners who will win a limited edition Autism Awareness pack!

Also, we will be hosting World Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd at UCSI University – the North Wing. This is going to be an exciting event where we have a special Paint for Autism Project that you could participate in as well as a presentation by Dr. Nan Huai, BCBA and Licensed Psychologist from our parent company Wisconsin Early Autism Project. There will also be heaps of fun activities for kids, information booths on autism as well as free M-CHAT screenings for autism as well! So do join us, entrance is absolutely free but there are limited spaces so sign up soon!

Lastly, EAP will be at different hospitals, schools and universities from March to April to spread the awareness and acceptance of autism. Do check out our website and social media for regular updates and come stop by at one of our booths!
