EAP Stepping Stones has partnered with local Music Instructor, Phoebe Lim, to provide a structured music class for all children ages 3-6 years old. Children that are typically developing and children with special needs are welcome. Children who attend this group must have the prerequisite skills, which are being generally cooperative and able to manage his / her behaviour, can sit on the floor for 5-10 minutes and ideally, have imitation skills.
Ms. Lim graduated from University College Sedaya International, KL with a diploma in Contemporary Music. She is a certified and licensed Musikgarten© Teacher and freelances with various schools and music centres in the Klang Valley. Musikgarten© is an Early Childhood Music and Movement Program from the USA for children ages 0 - 9.
Parents will provide a shadow aide for their child as deemed appropriate or necessary by Stepping Stones Director, Brenda Boehm and Music Teacher, Pheobe Lim. The shadow will follow Ms. Lim’s instructions and prompt the child to follow directions, imitate the group instructor and other children, and to stay on task.
Music Class offers an exciting opportunity for all children to develop and generalise skills through music instruction as well as build friendships and increase attention.
Activities included in the Music Class group may include:
- Group time / Circle time (i.e. listening to and singing songs, answering questions, conversation)
- Group play (i.e. music games, sensory activities, gross motor movements)
- Introduction to Instruments
- Sharing and Taking Turns with Others
Each term, the group will run with a minimum of 4 children and a maximum of 10 children.
