EAP Malaysia started Centre Based ABA Programmes for those families who prefer to run ABA programmes from a centre, rather than from home.

Some advantages of a centre based programme include:

• Consistency of recommended hours; children are guaranteed their hours as we engage in on-call staff when therapists are ill or on holiday
• More supervision of staff (Consultants are constantly observing the centre staff)
• More consistency of the programme (Therapists are full time and talk about the child’s progress and programme when the children’ leave the centre)
• Generalisation of skills to peers is easier to set up as there are other children present each day
• Generalisation of skills to small groups is also easier to set up with the variety of group classes
• EAP finds and hires therapists
• EAP supplies materials (toys, programme stimuli and reinforcers)
• EAP Consultation occurs weekly

The centre based and home based programmes are alike in many ways. Our philosophy remains the same:

• We want to ensure children are smiling and enjoying therapy sessions.
• Programming is individualized to best suit the needs of each child.
• The programme addresses communication, language, social skills, play skills, daily living skills, cognitive skills and academics.
• Therapy teams consist of 3-5 therapists and we aim for consistency across therapists by conducting overlaps and team meetings.
• The WEAP Senior Consultant sees the children every 6 to 8 months.
