Finding and Hiring Therapists

EAP families find and hire the therapists to work with their child. This allows families to choose candidates that best suit the family and child. Paying therapists directly also assists families in reducing the overall cost of running their ABA program.

The following are some tips and guidelines on how to find and hire therapists effectively from our experience.

Who to look for when looking for potential therapists
  • People that are eager to learn
  • Energetic
  • Dependable
  • Have experience with typically developing children or children with special needs
  • Looking for experience working with children
  • University students tend to do well in this position (areas of study: psychology, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, education, early childhood education)
  • Willing to make a commitment of six months (minimum)

  • Child-care centres
  • Newspapers
  • Local churches or synagogues
  • Toy Libraries
  • Word of mouth

    What to do to find potential therapists
  • Place advertisements on the internet sites or in newspapers
  • Hang flyers
  • Speak to professors or employment centres

    When to look for therapists
  • Begin this process as soon as possible
  • It often takes longer to find people during exam or holiday periods
  • When advertising, it is helpful to include the initial training dates and required hours
