When “I Love You” Means Everything

When our son Aufa was about 12 months old, we noticed he wasn’t speaking much and seemed behind in his development. A paediatrician confirmed he wasn’t meeting key milestones, especially in communication and recommending starting Aufa on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy with EAP.

At first, we started with weekly speech therapy, but it didn’t feel enough. So we took the next step and enrolled Aufa in EAP’s ABA therapy programme. Over time, the results were incredible. From having a developmental gap of 1 year in comparison to peers his age, he gradually caught up and even exceeded his milestones.

But the most meaningful moment was the day he said, “I love you, Mommy, Aba” because there was a time we feared he might never speak. Hearing those words brought us indescribable relief and joy.

Learning as Parents

Wanting to better support him, we took the Applied Behavior Analysis Technician (ABAT) course which EAP also offers. It helped us understand autism, practical techniques, and how to support our child effectively at home.

We also found EAP’s Autism At Home (AAH) videos incredibly helpful. It makes therapy accessible and helps guide us in our daily interactions with Aufa.

Why Early Intervention Matters

Many people say, “They’re still young, they’ll catch up.”

But early childhood is a critical window. Acting early can:

  • Accelerate development
  • Reduce delays
  • Create better long-term outcomes

Seeing Aufa’s progress, we also started our youngest child, Adli on EAP’s ABA programme when we noticed speech delays, and again, the improvement was clear.
