1. What is autism?

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts socially, learns and processes the world around them. Autism is called a “spectrum” because every individual has a unique combination of strengths, challenges and support needs. Some children may have significant language delays, while others speak fluently but struggle with social communication or flexibility.

Although autism is lifelong, early intervention can significantly improve communication, learning, independence and quality of life.
