49. Will my child ever learn to speak?
Every child develops differently, and it is not possible to predict exactly how communication will develop for any individual child.
Some children develop fluent spoken language, while others communicate using shorter phrases, alternative communication methods or a combination of approaches.
Rather than focusing only on speech, intervention aims to develop functional communication, helping children express their wants, needs, thoughts and feelings in ways that are meaningful to them.
Early intervention, consistent teaching and family involvement can significantly improve communication outcomes for many children.
