KUALA LUMPUR: GSC has recently introduced autism-friendly cinema halls for families with special needs children.

This is made possible by a partnership with The National Autism Society of Malaysia (Nasom), EAP The Hope Project, and Autism Cafe Project.

The halls are equipped with adjustable sofa-style seats, a small playground in front of the hall, dimmed lighting and reduced sound features.

“Now parents of special needs can also enjoy watching movies at the cinema without being afraid of their children disturbing others,” read a post on Nasom’s Facebook’s page.

Families are also allowed to bring their own food and snacks to these special movie halls.

Meanwhile, cinemagoers with other sensory disorders are also allowed to attend the sensory-friendly movie screenings which was launched at Tropicana Gardens Mall in Petaling Jaya on Sunday.

GSC added that there were plans to increase the availability of its sensory-friendly halls at its other outlets in future.
