Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) has recently launched movie halls exclusively designed for children with special needs

In partnership with The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM), EAP The Hope Project, and Autism Cafe Project, GSC held Malaysia’s first sensory-friendly movie screening at Tropicana Gardens Mall in Petaling Jaya on Sunday, 17 July.

The halls have audio and lighting tuned to the needs of autistic children, as well as special seating and a mini playground

“Now parents of special needs can also enjoy watching movies at the cinema without being afraid of their children disturbing others,” reads the caption of NASOM’s Facebook post.

GSC’s #LovingAutism initiative kicked off in April in celebration of World Autism Month. The campaign saw two special screenings that touch on developmental disorders —a French film titled The Specials (2019) and an English documentary, The Reason I Jumped (2020).
